Build an MCP Server in 5 Days

Build a production MCP server that connects AI agents to your tools and data. One lesson per day for busy professionals.

What You'll Build

One email per day. Each lesson covers one concept with working code. By Day 5, you'll have a deployed MCP server that any AI client can connect to.

DAY 1
What is MCP & Your First Server

Understand the Model Context Protocol — why it exists, how it works, and where it fits in the AI stack. Scaffold your first MCP server and handle a basic request.

DAY 2
Tools — Exposing Functions to LLMs

The core of MCP. Define tools with schemas, implement handlers, and let AI agents call your functions. Build a real tool that queries an API and returns structured data.

DAY 3
Resources & Dynamic Context

Expose files, database records, and live data as resources that AI agents can read. Learn the difference between tools and resources and when to use each.

DAY 4
Connecting to Clients

Wire your server to real AI clients — Claude Desktop, VS Code, Cursor, and custom apps. Configure transports, handle authentication, and test the full loop.

DAY 5
Testing, Deploy & Distribute

Test your server properly, deploy it for others to use, and package it for distribution. Walk away with a server you can share or publish.

Why 10 Minutes a Day

Most courses ask you to block out a weekend. You watch 8 hours of video, clone a repo, and by Monday you've forgotten half of it. That's not how working professionals actually learn.

This course is built around a different idea: consistent bite-sized lessons beat weekend marathons. One concept per day. Small enough to fit between meetings, concrete enough to stick. You read the lesson, write the code, and let it settle overnight. The next day builds on what you just internalized — not what you speed-ran through.

Five days of focused practice adds up to more than a weekend of cramming ever will.

Who This Is For

  • Engineers building AI tooling — you want agents to connect to your systems, not the other way around
  • Backend developers curious about the protocol that Claude, Cursor, and other AI tools are adopting
  • Anyone who finished the Agent course and wants to build the other side of the equation

Comfortable with Node.js or Python and basic API concepts. The Agent course is helpful but not required.
